night 1 | judy
[ okay, after everyone is done being shady shitheads in the operating theater, rhys is going to take judy's advice and head to the tech lab.
... which he then gets mad about again because this place is perfect and his hands itch to touch everything within it. but he's tired and should probably head back to his room to get some sleep before everything goes down so he refrains from now. tomorrow night, maybe.
when he gets to the terminal, he drags a chair over and sits down to the type. ]
hey j
so are you open for talking now?
i need to know jack's deal

i know but i was never going back to atlas anyway, was i? i might as well have this, at least.
thank you, judy. you know, you've been the nicest person to me here this entire time, weirdly enough. that probably says something awful about me.

You are welcome, Rhys. I cannot speak to your concern, but I do enjoy our talks.
You are quite chatty compared to other residents. This is not a complaint. It is an observation.

anyway i thought it was pretty obvious why? i don't have a lot of friends, judy. people don't like me, something about me just gets under their skins. i've never even had a best friend, let alone friends plural. it might've been hyperion but you know, maybe i've always been this way -- just some kind of... stain on everything. fiona probably thought so, that must've been why she left. even here, jack, who should like me, can barely stand the thought of touching me. he has... so much potential to be good, you know? just like this but the thought of him doing it without me is unbearable. what's the point of me if i don't have him, after all?
what i'm trying to say is that i talk to you because talking to you is easy. at first i thought you were always mocking me but even if you are, you're still the most honest person here. no pleasantries. no politeness. just direct answers to direct questions. i'm sure there's stuff you twist for your own benefit but whatever, you know? you do it less than everyone else. so thanks, i guess, for being the only one here that doesn't make me feel like... i don't know, a waste.

I understand your logic when you explain it so. In that case, then you may speak to me any time. Technically, this is only a pleasantry in itself, since you may do so regardless. It seems appropriate to offer all the same.
You are welcome, Rhys.
