week 13 | tuesday morning
[ hellooooo, marinette! wherever you happen to be on this fine graveyard like day, you're about to be bothered by a very whiny noodle. marinette wouldn't know it but rhys hasn't really done much of... anything during his death until very recently, mostly because he was Tragic and Angsting. now he is no longer so tragic but the cost is... pretty damn high.
it's actually pretty obvious too when rhys approaches dressed not in his usual suit, by in jack's stupid godawful yellow sweater and his slacks. why is rhys wearing that sweater? someone help rhys. ]
Hey, Marinette. You have a second? We need to talk. I mean, of course you have a second, you're freggin' dead for crying out loud.

[But then again, Rhys had been an alien too. Like Adrien.]
Yeah. What's up?
[She keeps it pretty short, since she doesn't have the energy for hostility]

Uhhh... so I talked to Adrien yesterday. And Dave. And, uh.
[ . . .
oh fuck it ]
Oh my goddd, everyone here is an asshole about the alien thing, aren't they? What the fuck. It's like they forgot you're like, five years old or whatever.
[ this sure is rhys' brand of sympathy. ]

We're not five. [Foremost!!! She sounds more tired than snippy, though.]
[But at that, despite Rhys's.... Rhys wording, she's able to grasp those strings of anger again. She frowns]
But you're right. They're a--- [god she can't even do it, 2disney] jerks. Adrien didn't deserve that.
[No alien host did, really.]

[ said in the tone of... actually less of a snotty adult and more of just a sarcastic older brother. rhys doesn't respect kids, okay.
still, her refusal to swear gets a burst of laughter out of him and he shakes his head, crossing his arms over his chest instead. alright then, marinette. he grins, cheeky and smug. ]
Assholes. He didn't, he's sensitive. Even I can see that, why do you think I was such a dick? Easy targets.
[ and then his expression changes swiftly to a frown. ]
But my problems with you are something else entirely and the whole -- the whole alien shit? Being dicks to kids because of something they couldn't control? I get it, I was an asshole, no one believed me and that... hurt but I get it. Adrien wasn't. Dave wasn't. Why be assholes to them?
no subject
[She gives him a Look,] He's not sensitive-- [okay maybe he is] no one would be happy hearing something like that!
[but, wow, Rhys is actually.... agreeing with her? Being self-aware?]
[Is another alien possessing him??]no right. It's one thing to use facts and logic, not.... attacking people and making then feel awful, and then ignoring them! Adrien, and Dave, and you and Elizabeth--- you had no control over anything.
no subject
Yeah, that's the point. Unless you're like, a crazy person like Jack who thrives off that kind of thing.
[ you're still wearing his sweater, rhys. ]
Anyway, yeah. That's what pisses me off -- with Elizabeth, Jack baited her because he knew what might be happening. It pointed everyone in the right direction in the end. Me, different story, people were assholes, no one helped me even then I begged for help. But nooo, don't help the guy who knows the genocidal lunatic more than anyone else in the room! Considering the fact I was freggin' possessed by him and also he was my boss for years. Fuuuck.
[ that's a. whole different rant though. he pinches the bridge of his nose and sighs. ]
But Dave and Adrien? I don't get it. They were nice to everyone, had nothing stacked against them. Dave killed his mom and no one cared? What? Adrien, strongest one of all of us prrrrobably because he was the nicest one of all of us. Makes sense, pretty strategic. But then no one tries to give the kid a hug afterwards? Either of them? Come on, that's pathetic. I make a living being an asshole, I know I don't get hugs -- but they didn't sign up for that.
[ A BIG SIGH he didn't mean to go on that little rant there ]
... Anyway, what I'm saying is like, if you need my help or whatever while you're stuck here. It's cool. Just like, ask, I guess. Same for Adrien and Dave but they're like, alive soooo... awkwaaard.

[Her expression darkens a little at the Jack rant, but--] Look--- I didn't trust Jack either. I didn't know how bad he was then, but it wasn't about that. You'd just stabbed him, and the way you were acting---
[She trails off. Her anger at Rhys has pretty much evaporated, and even if she has some disdain, it's pale compared to what she feels about the remaining survivors.] But I'm sorry. I wasn't fast enough to stop him. [Also, hero complex]
[Speaking of disdain, it's definitely flaring up at the mention of it.] None of you had any control over what the aliens did with your bodies, and it's-- it's not an excuse to treat anyone horribly! Adrien would have died to protect any one of those people, and they still treated him like he was a monster, like he was using them. Dave--- [okay, she'd gotten nasty herself before the alien reveal and had a hard time trying to figure out how to apologize to him, but she's still angry on their behalf. On both of their behalves.] You're--- more victims than anyone else. They should have been helping them!
[Of course, the last bit catches her off guard. IS THIS REALLY RHYS?] I--- thank you.
