[ here we are in break and rhys' hot mess of a room. like for real, it's pretty messy but they're both kind of used to it at this point. rhys is on his bed, knees pulled up to his chest and arms crossed loosely around them while he looks down at an assortment of socks laid in front of him. he seems pretty deep in thought (about those socks). what could he be thinking about?

and break is doing... something else, that i'll let christy take care of but either way, it's kind of quiet here in casa de shady!

of course, this is when there's a knock on their door. ]

sans just stares into the room and then takes an orange out of his hoodie.]

[ and now back to team shady who are... probably used to these things happening in their room now. rhys just looks at sans in vague surprise and then holds out his hand. ]

[ More or less. Break still flinches pretty heavily, but he's getting more and more used to this. He reaches up to massage his brow lightly with one hand, and he utters out a single word under his breath: ]

Undyne.

[ Because, honestly. Who the fuck else. He steps to the side to let Sans (and Papyrus?) come in, though he does bend down to re-latch his cane closed again. ]

Well, welcome, I suppose. Come in before the ghosts break more of my things.

[he shrugs and walks in, throwing rhys the orange]

[Papyrus comes jogging after Sans, thankfully having missed the joking part]

ARE THERE MORE GHOST CRIMES??

[ just giving papyrus a look as he catches the orange. he'll go back to his bed and sit down next to all those socks and he starts peeling it. ]

The only ghost crime here is Undyne. Haaaah.

[ rhys, you're not funny. ]

[ Once his cane is properly latched again, Break closes the door after them before he returns to his bed too. Though unlike Rhys, this visit is slightly more out of the blue to him, so he gets to the point rather quickly for the sake of his curiosity. ]

So~. Jokes aside, this is a surprise. What can we help a pair of skeletons with?

[sans enjoys the sock collection. truly, rhys is one of his people. sans is rocking on the balls of his feet as he looks around. usually he's not one for sharing, but undyne trusted break and did tell him to share with him ... though... not that... but that's why he didn't bother trying to ask rhys to talk in private.]

it's about the stuff we overheard last night.

[and by share i mean "be cryptically ominous" because by god is he an asshole constantly]

[ something seems to occur to rhys then and while he definitely told break about the conversation, he hadn't played it yet. now that they're all here, he'll bring it up again. ]

Hey, Undyne? If you're there, you might want to listen to this if you haven't already heard it too.

[ and he'll lift his hand and play a certain conversation for everyone there, just so they're all on the same page. ]

Really puts into perspective how little we matter, huh.

[ Break listens to the conversation attentively, but it also doesn't take long into it before he laughs. It's not a pleasant laugh, since it's short and sharp, and he has a smile on his face to match it. ]

My, it's even worse when you actually hear the whole thing. [ And... probably without Rhys's salt filter. ] What was Miata thinking...? So she's safely locked away in the basement or something like that, and now we get to fend for ourselves?

[ He laughs again, but then shrugs. Somehow, that shrug feels sarcastic. ]

I'm inspired with hope, truly~.

[sans absolutely doesn't expect the deluge of bitterness, so he decides to cut in before papyrus tries to defend miata, because he is not here for a morality debate between his sunshine brother and the salt mine. ...as hilarious as that'd be. which is extremely.]

i'm pretty sure we were always fending for ourselves. anyway... the important part to me isn't the lover's quarrel, it's what they said about something going down this week.
